Estate agent subjected to harassment takes agency to tribunal

An employment tribunal heard how a female estate agent quit after being subjected to months of sexual harassment.

Charlotte Lloyd, 35, told the Southampton tribunal that she was subjected to vulgar innuendos and gestures by sales negotiator Michael Keilthy who was suspended and later dismissed after she forwarded her complaints.

Mrs Lloyd claims that during the February and July 2014 Mr Keilthy simulated sex with her desk, referred to her by inappropriate nicknames and simulated oral sex acts.

However, six months after his dismissal Mrs Lloyd was forced to quit after her GP signed her off with stress that was sparked by Mr Keithy’s appearance at the staff Christmas party in 2014.

After missing five days from work the Callaways Estate Agents reduced her hours due to concerns over her welfare.

She told the tribunal: “I felt the harassment was very targeted, upsetting and humiliating. It was impacting my confidence and making the work environment very unpleasant.”

Following her resignation Mrs Lloyd has taken the estate agents to tribunal for what she believes is constructive dismissal, adding that the move to part time hours was a way to replace her.

She also claims that a “lacklustre” reference from the firm caused her to lose a £30,000 a year job offer as a private PA.
